My mom made me this wreath! Isn't it amazing!!! It's supposed to be both decorative and also useful when you start wrapping packages. Of course, I would never actually take this apart to use the bows for presents but it's a really cute idea. Anyways, It's a good thing she sent it to me because it is my one and only Christmas decoration. Here's a fun story:
Last year Ellen and I bought a mini Christmas tree off the street on a whim. It happened to be Ellen's birthday and we happened to be a little intoxicated walking toward the subway station. We got the tree home and realized that we didn't have any ornaments so we went through our jewelery boxes and used earring and necklaces and all sorts of various sparkly things as ornaments. It was beautiful! We wake up the next morning and decide the tree is looking a bit dry and needs to be watered. Not 20 minutes after watering the tree we hear a big thump and the tree is laying on the ground. Earrings and necklaces and pine needles everywhere! Upon further inspection it turns out our 'tree' was really just a piece of foam with a bunch of branches stuck into it. The water made the foam all gooey and that's why our tree fell over. It was not a Christmas miracle. It was a Christmas UN miracle and also a big fat scam! We managed to stand the tree back up and it still looked beautiful (although a little lopsided). Anyways, moral of the story is: If you are going to buy a tree from a random dude on the street inspect the tree and make sure it's not just a big piece of foam masquerading as a tree. Also, maybe have a few less drinks.
